Mezzo-Soprano Kaylee Nichols is thrilled to be returning to Nightingale Opera Theatre as Vera Boronel and the Secretary cover. In a busy 2016 season, Kaylee made her debuts with Opera Columbus in Twisted 2, Opera Project Columbus as La Madre di Mariuccia in I due Timidi, and Nightingale Opera Theatre, leading the young artist cast as Jo March in Little Women. She was also selected as a Master Class and Gala Concert singer with Mid-Ohio Opera and in the One World Day Festival with Great Lakes Light Opera. A 2016 graduate of McGill University, Kaylee’s Opera McGill credits include Eduige in Rodelinda, Marcellina inLe nozze di Figaro, and La Maestra delle Novizie in Suor Angelica. There, she worked with directors such as Patrick Hansen, Nicola Bowie, and David Gately. Montreal Rampagne and McGill Tribune hailed her performance as Jo March in the university’s production of Little Women as “stellar” and “energetic and tomboyish”. Under the baton of Maestro Christopher Larkin, Opera McGill’s production was stream nation-wide across Canada and internationally on CBC Music. Other operatic roles include Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Tessa in The Gondoliers, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas, and Le converse in Suor Angelica. Future engagements include singing Zerlina in #UncleJohn with Opera Columbus: Opera on the Edge series. Kaylee resides in Dayton and teaches voice at Musical Arts Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
